Ms. Meeka Mccoy
Principal
Ms. Meeka McCoy, a graduate of James M. Bennett High School in Salisbury, MD, earned her Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education from Sojourner-Douglass College in 2007. She furthered her education with a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction in 2012 and a Master of Science in Special Education in 2021. Ms. McCoy began her teaching career in Dorchester County, where she taught Pre-K for four years before transitioning to Wicomico County, teaching 2nd grade at West Salisbury Elementary School for 13 years. After holding various leadership roles, she became the Assistant Principal at Chipman Elementary School in 2022 and was named Principal in 2024.
Ms. McCoy’s leadership philosophy centers on servant leadership, believing that a true leader empowers and inspires others to reach their full potential. She is committed to creating a collaborative and inclusive school environment where every student is valued, supported, and challenged. Her belief is that with empathy, high expectations, and dedication, all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, developing the confidence and skills they need to succeed in life.
Mrs. Allison Harrington
Assistant Principal
Mrs. Allison Harrington, a Salisbury native, is a proud graduate of Wicomico County Public Schools, with her high school education completed at Parkside High School. She furthered her academic journey at Salisbury University, where she not only excelled academically but also displayed leadership as the Captain of the Salisbury University Women's Tennis Team. Mrs. Harrington graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education & Elementary Education.
In 2015, Mrs. Harrington began her teaching career with Wicomico County Public Schools at Fruitland Intermediate School, teaching 4th grade. Over her seven years at Fruitland Intermediate, she held various leadership roles within the school community, was recognized as a Teacher of the Year Finalist, and served as the Elementary Summer School Assistant Coordinator. During this time, she also earned a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Salisbury University. In 2023, she assumed the role of Dean of Students at West Salisbury Elementary.
Mrs. Harrington firmly believes that every day, educators possess the power to uncover the positive worth and potential within each student who walks through the school's halls. Her mission is to empower students to replace their fears and doubts with courage and passion, guiding them to realize their purpose within this world, our community, and their future.
